Generally, older people tend to resist new technology, for two main reasons:age-realated cognitive change and “technology generation”(Rama, de Ridder&Bouma,2001,p.27). Firstly, as people grow old, the short term memory impairment and lower “fluid intelligence” levels make new technology hard to learn (http://www..dcs.gla.ac.uk/~joy/research/2003_hci_international/paper). For example, the IT(Information Technology) field is usually difficult to older people. Since in this field, new things come out every day, older people cannot keep pace with it. Besides, in the field of IT, there are many things to be remembered. Thus, older people may feel neverous and have no confidence in it. As a result, older people tend to resist it. On the other hand, older people may be affected by their experience of earlier. Usually, new technology breaks the rule of old technology. For most of older people, they cannot adapt to it. Older people should see new technology from a different angle respect to the old one. Hence, to some extent, older people tend to resist new technology. Finally, the adaption of new ideas and technology does not occur naturally but results from hard work, trial and error(http://www4.uwm.edu/cuts/bench/change). Also, most of older people have lost that enthusiasm to overcome difficulties. In conclusion, age-related cognitive change and “ technology generation” are the two main reasons why older people tend to resist new technology.

I agree with you that older people tend to resist new technology. It is inevitable as it is the necessary step for the advancement of the future. It will be good if you give examples to further illustrate your points on why they tend to resist it. Based on my understanding, however, there are technologies that are specially designed for older people nowadays.
ya, when people are get use to their old way, they dont tend to change. so this is why older poeple tend to resist new technology. however, the world will not wait for you , you have to change in order to keep on track.
